Happy Birthday John!

Delano’s new picture atop our page has inspired me to starting posting again. . . at least for the time being. 
We celebrated John’s first birthday yesterday, and what a day it was. Starting early in the morning with a feverish rush to wrap his birthday presents, followed immediately by the three minute “opening” of said presents. It started our day on the right foot. The sheer excitement exhibited by all of John’s older siblings was contagious. From Joshua down to Elias, everyone gathered around the birthday boy to see him open his first ever presents. Elias even squealed in his excitement. Delano took pictures, John hid his face in my arm overcome with shyness at being the center of attention. The picture still sits in my mind. How awesome it is. . . how completely and totally awesome it is. . . that this little boy is so totally and completely loved by his 5 siblings. John is so obviously a blessing in our lives, but what a blessing that he has these brothers and his sister. There is no child in this world that is loved more than this little boy.
A homemade rattle (made weeks ago by Joshua and Mary Rachel), homemade decorations by Thomas, reminiscing amongst the kids about the day John was born, fights between Elias and Dominic over who would sit next to John to blow out the candle, a birthday fort built by Dominic and Elias in honor of John, a fajita dinner with the entire family. . . all of this was part of our day, and the day could not have been better. How blessed we all are, and how grateful I am.

on September 25th, 2009Children are just an absolute and total blessing!! I am glad to hear John had such a nice birthday!! And, he is very lucky to have such wonderful brothers and sisters…
Luke is too!! Everyone begs him for hugs and he just eats it all up!!! Joy!!
